This week President Trump announced guidelines to reopen areas of the U.S. where there’s been a decline in Coronavirus cases, but deferred to governors when it comes to reopening their states. Not all states have implemented stay-in-place orders.
California is in its fifth week of staying in place only going out for essentials. Since we can’t get out to interview residents about how they’re dealing with the pandemic, I’ve reached out to my family and friends. In this new episode of MotherNature CSI you’ll hear from my cousins in Greenville, South Carolina, who are also under stay in place orders.
What is life going to be like on the other side of this? We all know it’s going to be different and how much different and how much it impacts our lives going forward is going to be a lot more dramatic than people think.

Jim and Barbara moved to Greenville, from New Jersey. It was Super Storm Sandy that prompted their move south. The couple still has friends and family in New Jersey, an area hit hard by the coronavirus.
Jim continues to work at a business providing packaging to companies which include the auto industry. His employer is taking precautions, by measuring employees’ temperatures before they’re allowed to work. Barbara has health concerns, not just because of the Coronavirus. She takes weekly injections for Rheumatoid Arthritis which suppresses her immune system. “When I get a cold it’s a lot worse for me because of my immune system,” she says.
A lot of people are going to be afraid to get on a plane. The cruise industry, who wants to get on a boat and sail on the islands, it’s like a petri dish.

“What is life gonna be like on the other side of this”, Jim asks. “We all know it’s going to be different and how much different and how much it impacts our lives going forward is going to be a lot more dramatic that than people think.” And he makes the point being seen now in the travel industry. “No one’s going to want to get on a plane…we used to love to take cruises…but it’s like a petri dish.”
